Love and Longing
We return to the historic parish church of Bingley for an evening of beguiling song. The lutenists of 16th Century England were the musical stars of the day, singer-songwriters who wrote of love, lust, despair and death! In the first half of our programme we are joined by a soprano and lutenist, singing music from Dowland’s suggestive Come again, sweet love doth now invite to Thomas Campion’s beautiful Never weather beaten sail. By way of contrast we then explore fabulously…

We are returning to the historic and beautiful All Saints’ Church, Little Horton, whose warm welcome guarantees a special…

The responses of Finzi and Gurney (a veteran of the trenches) are both secular and elegaic, mourning senseless loss and finding hope in the timeless beauty of nature. Lili Boulanger wrote her plangent…
