We return to the historic parish church of Bingley for an evening of beguiling song. The lutenists of 16th Century England were the musical stars of the day, singer-songwriters who wrote of love, lust, despair and death! In the first half of our programme we are joined by a soprano and lutenist, singing music from Dowland’s suggestive Come again, sweet love doth now invite to Thomas Campion’s beautiful Never weather beaten sail.
By way of contrast we then explore fabulously sonorous music from the living composers, including Eriks Esenvalds, inspired by the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights.
