Forthcoming Events

Following our packed-out return to St George’s Hall in April 2023 and our beautiful evening of choral music at Bradford’s Ukrainian Centre in the summer, we look forward to our 2023-2024 season. We start with Will Todd’s Mass in Blue and music by Duke Ellington, Anna Thorvaldsdottir and a world premiere by Lillie Harris, followed by our hugely popular Christmas concert with the award-winning Rothwell Temperance Band.
In March 2024 we return to St George’s Hall with the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra for Mendelssohn’s epic oratorio – Elijah.

A Wondrous Sound : 1000 years of music by women

June 22, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

This image requires alt text, but the alt text is currently blank. Either add alt text or mark the image as decorative.Music by women is outrageously marginalised – we took a look at the recent concert programmes of many of Yorkshire’s other large choral societies and were shocked to find that NONE had any visible programming of music by female composers. So in our small way we’re trying to provide some balance…

…join us for this fascinating evening of music which give us wonderful compositions from the medieval mystic Hildegard (think timeless plainchant), the passionate Baroque music of Barbara Strozzi, romantic lyricism from Fanny Hensel and Clara Schumann, Lili Boulanger’s impressionism and a kaleidoscope of contemporary music, vivid and approachable!

If you are a choral director or singer, why not join us for our linked workshop to explore this wonderful music in more depth…details coming soon.

We are delighted to be joined by the brilliant Leeds Vocal Movement in this concert. and we have received generous funding from the Ambache Charitable Trust supporting both the concert and workshop.

If you can’t get to this concert don’t worry – we have made a commitment to programming music by women in ALL our concerts.

Tickets are limited in number for this concert – please book in advance from TicketSource to avoid disappointment
