Forthcoming Events

BFCS’s 2018-19 season is full of great music for audiences and singers alike.  We commemorate and reflect on Armistice Day with music from composers directly affected by the tragedy of war – Finzi, Gurney and Lili Boulanger – and find solace in Fauré’s serene Requiem.  In December we present a traditional Yorkshire Christmas festive concert with one of the region’s finest brass bands;  enjoy the seasonal refreshments!  Spring sees us team up with a brilliant team of pianists and percussionists for the glorious riot of Carmina Burana and Constant Lambert’s The Rio Grande.  Our summer programme celebrates music by women – A wondrous sound.  In addition to our main programme we appear at community events and festivals, and welcome all singers to our Come and Sing workshops, led by our inspirational team of musicians.

Tickets for all events organised by BFCS can be purchased through Ticket Source.

Access to Price Hall:
The main entrance is up several steps – there is a side entrance with level access, there is then some distance to walk or use a wheelchair to the Hall. Please email bradfordfestivalchoralsociety.org.uk for more details.

A Wondrous Sound : 1000 years of music by women

June 22 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

This image requires alt text, but the alt text is currently blank. Either add alt text or mark the image as decorative.Music by women is outrageously marginalised – we took a look at the recent concert programmes of many of Yorkshire’s other large choral societies and were shocked to find that NONE had any visible programming of music by female composers. So in our small way we’re trying to provide some balance…

…join us for this fascinating evening of music which give us wonderful compositions from the medieval mystic Hildegard (think timeless plainchant), the passionate Baroque music of Barbara Strozzi, romantic lyricism from Fanny Hensel and Clara Schumann, Lili Boulanger’s impressionism and a kaleidoscope of contemporary music, vivid and approachable!

If you are a choral director or singer, why not join us for our linked workshop to explore this wonderful music in more depth…details coming soon.

We are delighted to be joined by the brilliant Leeds Vocal Movement in this concert. and we have received generous funding from the Ambache Charitable Trust supporting both the concert and workshop.

If you can’t get to this concert don’t worry – we have made a commitment to programming music by women in ALL our concerts.

Tickets are limited in number for this concert – please book in advance from TicketSource to avoid disappointment
