Dazzling new music, brilliant soloists and atmospheric chants from Medieval Spain come together in a heady mix for our November concert. The music of Ēriks Ešenvalds is inspired by the Northern Lights, and its shimmering beauty will move and delight you. Alongside Ešenvalds’ works we present music of incredible warmth and wonder by Stephen Paulus and Eric Whitacre, interspersed with pilgrim songs from the Medieval Llibre Vermell – brought to life by our fantastic percussion ensemble and soloists. A real antidote as the nights draw in!
Programme includes:
Extracts from the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat
Ešenvalds – Stars; Only in sleep; The Long Road
Paulus – The Road Home
Whitacre – Cloudburst
AND – at 6.45 pm a free pre concert talk by our Musical Director Thomas Leech. In future these talks will be part of our Friends of BFCS package (see ‘Support Us’ page), but this one is open to all.
